Trek Transylvania - May 2010
By participating on the trek you will help us raise much-needed funds that will enable us to improve the lives of people living with diabetes in this country.
About the trip
Trek 70kms over four days through a hidden corner of Europe unchanged for 850 years. This trek takes us into the Becegi Mountains that overlook Transylvania and provides an ideal chance to visit Count Vlad or Dracula's Castle and experience some of the delights of it's beautiful capital Bucharest.
This unique adventure organised in partnership with Fighting Blindness includes:
Suitability
This challenge is rated as moderate meaning participants will require an average level of fitness to walk the route. Participants will have a challenge that is fully achievable and which offers tremendous rewards. Our accommodation is a mixture of good 3 and 4* Hotels with breakfast each morning, lunch en-route and evening meals will be at the hotel or local restaurant.
From May the snow starts to disappear quickly in the Carpathian mountains. It can be warm and sunny, however as with all mountain ranges there is still a chance of rain, so bring protective clothing. Spring is a good time to visit, with less tourists, beautiful wild flowers and melting snow.
Sponsorship
We are offering you the chance to participate in this unique adventure and to support us by raising much needed funds to enable us to carry on our work. We do realise that in the current economic climate, raising sponsorship is becoming more and more challenging and that many people are turned off by having to raise a set amount of sponsorship before they can participate in this adventure. For this reason, we have teamed up with Fighting Blindness and set the achievable target of €3,800 which could be reached through two good fundraisers such as a bag pack or table quiz.
