Sweetpea Kidz Club
The Sweetpea Kidz Club is a club which has been set up by the Diabetes Federation of Ireland.
The Club is specifically for young children with diabetes and their siblings. The main aims of the Sweetpea Kidz Club is to bring together, in a fun environment, children with diabetes and their families. This facilitates the sharing of information and the provision of support for families living with diabetes. Activities are available to children because they, or their brother or sister have diabetes. While the condition may have some negative aspects (daily injections, blood tests and restricted diet) the Club offers some light relief for all involved. Activities include Christmas parties, day trips and weekends away.
The Club's activities are family activities, organised by a committee of volunteers consisting of parents and people living with diabetes since childhood. All events are assisted and supported - on a voluntary basis - by members of the healthcare professions. We are non-profit making organisation, relying on sponsorship and voluntary contributions.
