What should you teach your teenager about his/her condition – what is his/her own responsibility and what is still your responsibility as parents?
Children should be familiar with major internal body organs, the digestive system and the function of the pancreas. And they should know which food to eat and how to live as close to normal as possible among their friends and classmates.
Teenagers should thoroughly understand the function of the pancreas and the effect of insulin on the body. They should know which foods are best to eat and how to live as close to normal as possible among their friends and classmates.
Older teenagers should have a good knowledge of how their body works in order to understand the different problems that people with diabetes face and take responsibility for their disease.
