Diabetes Health Service Development Forum

O’Callaghan Alexander Hotel (just off Merrion Square), Dublin 2
Sunday 8 November at 2.15pm.

You may recall as part of last year’s World Diabetes Day celebrations, the Health Service Executive’s Diabetes Expert Advisory Group (DEAG) launched its report which set out clear recommendations for improving diabetes health services in Ireland. This meeting will provide you with an opportunity to hear what progress has being made by the HSE on this issue in the past 12 months and also hear about the next steps and the potential impact of the recommendations on patient care in the future.

Speaking on this very important topic will be Dr Colm Costigan, Chair of the DEAG who will provide an overview on the decision making process used to determine the various recommendations and approaches across the various diabetes services set out in the group’s report and Dr Barry White, National Director of Clinical Care, Health Service Executive who will explain the progress made towards implementation of the recommendations too date, future plans and the potential impact of the recommendations on patient care in the longer term.

With so many fad diets circulating nowadays, just who are we to believe in terms of following a healthy diet and are any of them any good for the person with diabetes. Speaking on this topic will be Ms Margot Brennan, Dietitian and Public Relation Officer of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute.
